Canterbury

Canterbury is one of the most diverse regions in New Zealand. The Southern Alps, snow-covered in winter and home to many ski fields, the Canterbury Plains with its twisting rivers of the Rangitata, Rakaia and Waimakariri and kilometres of beaches, broken only by the hills and harbours of the Banks Peninsula. In Canterbury, visitors and locals can ski, snowboard, bungy jump, hike, fish, mountain bike, raft, surf, swim, golf, see whales, dolphins and seals, visit wineries and gardens all within two hours of Christchurch.
